A Youth Tobacco & Nicotine Use Toolkit was released from the Tobacco Free Coalition in Charlottesville. This was created at the Thomas Jefferson Health District in partnership with UVA Cancer Center in response to many requests from schools and community members for resources to combat and prevent youth vaping. National Prescription Take Back Results
Goochland County Sheriff’s Office wants to thank all those who turned in unused prescriptions to the DEA Drug Take Back Program to make it a great success. Thank you to the Goochland Gazette and RSAAC (Rural Substance Abuse Awareness Coalition) for assisting in getting the word out. Goochland locations collected 277.8 pounds of unused prescriptions. Thanks again and we will be planning another Drug Take Back in October of 2019.

HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT
Through a partnership with the Goochland Sheriff’s Office and the Rural Substance Abuse Awareness Coalition, Goochland Schools is hosting a Hidden in Plain Sight event at Goochland High School on May 8, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. Learn about the signs of teen drug and alcohol use and find out how to talk to your kids about the dangers. This is an event that is specifically designed for parents or guardians, so no children, please. Dinner will be provided, and we will give out door prizes!
