Coalition Approach
By utilizing the strengths of our coalition partners, RSAAC works toward our goals through the following approach.
Community Education: RSAAC provides the following training and resources:
- Prescriber education programs
- School-based prevention activities
- Parent education programs
- Community awareness events
- Sharing valuable resources through our website and Facebook
Prevention Programs: RSAAC has implemented several initiatives to combat substance misuse
Safe storage and disposal of medicine:
- Yellow Box Project
- Partnering with Powhatan County Outreach to have no-barrier Naloxone readily available in any business/organization in Powhatan & Goochland
- Community-wide Drug Take-Back Days (April & October)
- Establishing drug disposal kit distribution sites
- Promoting permanent Drug Disposal Boxes in our community:
Community Presence: RSAAC made a goal for 2025 to be present at 12 events this year to spread awareness.
- Our Little Library
- Free safety items and books about wellness & recovery
- Providing resources and education to families and caregivers
- Showing up at local festivals, markets, and public events—just to connect!
- Sharing real stories and opening up conversations that matter
- Advocating for healthier, safer spaces in Powhatan and Goochland
Coalition Partnerships
